Stop making me download 1GB of assets

Last versions of the game were ~100MB, you've added HD assets and it's 1GB+.

Please, for the love of God, give me an option to download whats different from previous version - does 1GB of assets change all the time?

They added a ton of HD graphics so probably, yes.

We're having problems with our automatic updater at the moment, so please use Steam, or download the full installation at http://www.factorio.com/download/experimental.

The updater is usually incremental. Unfortunately, it doesn't work at this moment, so you have to DL the full game every time. you want the next miner update. Or you can wait the devs fix the updater.

That would be Cheating. And also once you know about a bug you end up noticing it more actively and it can both happen more often and drive you crazy. I have no idea how the effect works, but it seems to be true.

I don't want to play old versions as newer fix crashes and I want stability.

If there is one, I'm not aware of it. Please bear in mind I'm *only* a moderator, and by no means part of the dev team.
However, during the past 5 years, I have built a strong trust towards the dev team for :
1) usually making the right choices,
2) being open minded enough to admit having been wrong and correcting their errors otherwise.

I'm sure they have good reasons for not prioritizing the updater over other stuff. I know I sound like a hysterical teenager fangirl - which I'm not ^^ - but I have built quite an amount of trust.
Just be patient, I'm sure it's only a matter of days.

The updater is working, if you do not get a prompt on start you either have the updater itself or experimental versions deactivated, if you get a prompt but the update fails you need to open a Technical Help topic describing the issue.

I used "About" > "Check updates", game just telling me "No new updates available". No errors about connection or login.

P.S.: Okay, found the issue. You're right, experimental updates were disabled. I couldn't image I had to enable this because I'm using an experimental version already... Thx!
