[0.17.1][Mac] Crash + Intense lag when hostile enemies attacking

I've lowered all the graphic options, and I'm in the tutorial just before I finish the research that completes the last objective. The game runs fine until I'm attacked, at which point I experience intense input lag ( rendering continues ) of more than a second. The first time I died because a turret ran out of ammo and I could not open a chest to resupply, after a minute of trying I was killed and the game was over.

My latest attempt I survived, but after the map expanded the game froze and became unresponsive. I left it a minute or two, Factorio spun down to 3% of CPU usage and had 1.23GB of used RAM, I'm not entirely sure what it's doing but it's unresponsive

I've attached the savegame, the current log that hints at a crash, and a screenshot of the window as it is while crashed

For reference I'm on a late 2018 MBP 13" 16GB LPDDR3 RAM, core i7@2.7Ghz, intel iris 650 GPU, MacOS 10.14.1

a quick follow up that the changes with MacOS handling unknown inputs lagging that was fixed in I think 0.17.3 or one of those, fixed the intense lag I was getting, it's all buttery smooth now. I don't know if the map expansion bug was fixed though, need to test and double check

Thanks for the report and for letting us know the performance issues are fixed now.

The freeze/crash might have been fixed: 65676
I tried to load your save and didn't manage to make it crash.
