[0.17.1] Map editor, can not put item in a chest
Map editor, can not put item in a chest( all of them) in the editor.

You can't interact with items when using the entity/decorative/tile editors. You have to be in the "none" section.

Press E to open you inventory and spawn an item in the none editor. Then open the chest and put it in there.

Re: [0.17.1] Map editor, can not put item in a chest
0.16.52
1 put down a chest
2 click on the chest
3 drag a stack from the list to the chest inventory
0.17.1
1 put down a chest
2 click on the none tab
3 push E on the keyboard
4 click up to 20 times( shift click) to get a stack of iron plates in the player inventory
5 clothes that window by pushing E again
6 open chest inventory
7 drag items from player inventory to chest inventory
So can you tell me why you took a task that was 48 dragon drops to fill up 1 chest with iron plates to a action that now requires 960 plus cliques and drags?

Your last step is flawed: ctrl + click the item and all of that type is moved into the chest.
Using that instead of 1-by-1 the new editor is faster than the old one.

I say you have not used the new map editor to fill up a chest with iron plates with a stack size of 100 you either click 48 x 100 = 4800 cliques or you can shift click to bring that down to 960
But step 4 is where we have the problem here
I understand continuity but map editor and the game itself is different enough to have it's own ways of doing stuff

There will most likely be more improvements to the new map editor as time goes on. At the moment it's functional for using items - but items are not the main use case of the editor. They're mostly "also there" for when you want to use them until we can think of a better system for them.

In a way, I kind of like the new system. It's closer to the actual gameplay, in that you fill your "inventory" with something and then put it in the box you want it in. However, I did find a minor problem. There is no way I have found to delete items from the editor inventory except to close and reopen the editor. I'm not adverse to the new path, but I did find that there was a minor nuisance issue that comes up when you select the wrong item for a box too often - particularly when dealing with mods that might add hundreds of new items. Adding an "Inventory trashcan" or "inventory clear" button in the editor would simplify matters.
