Stoping approaching trains
Is there a way (with combinators) to set up a save rail passing allowing standing (accidentally being trapped) on the track between already closed gates and stopping the coming train by signals - but not letting the train run into a wall on the rail itself to stop him.

How do you get stuck?
I tried.
Could not get the gates to close. Am i missing something?
[EDIT]
Are you using circuit conditions to open the gate?

I remember someone managed to wire up a solution to this where a walking path had gates which would not open unless the train traffic had been stopped. I looked around some to try to find it but was unsuccessful.

Well... not if i try:)
Only happens if you are to far from the gate sensor. And then you can't use the sensor to stop the train by turning the signals to red.Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

It works - thanks!
After going over it, I think I understand how it works - you a Factorio genius indeed.
Its an excellent solution for a nasty problem that works EVEN without combinators - you should post e.g. provide this to WUBE so they may enter it to their planned help cards and the Factorio wiki - or even better you place it into the wiki.
