Re: Today's forum skin update
Bug report: my rss for single threads now load everything for the whole forum (e.g. instead of only replies to this thread,"Today's forum skin update", I get replies for the whole "General" forum)
Re: Today's forum skin update
The feed URLs changed. It's now app.php/feed/topic/62457 for topics and app.php/feed/forum/7 for forums.
I'm an admin over at https://wiki.factorio.com. Feel free to contact me if there's anything wrong (or right) with it.
Re: Today's forum skin update
Now that needs good eyes. Actually, I saw the question mark, but at that moment, there were two topics one above the other : one to be moderated, and another with a question mark at the end of the subject. Honestly, the difference between both is tiny. It should be more obvious, like it was before.Bilka wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 11:43 amI thought the same at first, but the questionmark that is shown behind the post title is the new icon, you can even see it in your image In my opinion it should be changed to be another color/icon so that it is more clear that it's not part of the topic title.
[Edit] I did a "report" test, and THAT is obvious : on top of an exclamation mark (not so obvious again), the whole topic "cell" is highlited (to the point it's hardly readable, a kind of very light blue-ish color).

Re: Today's forum skin update
It looks like hiding your online status works now, and your posts has worked nicely. Fixed width and orange instead of red for unread topics are still major unanswered problems.

Re: Today's forum skin update
Fixed width is much better for reading text like forum posts. Why would you want ultrawide text?
The new forum also seems to be way faster :D

Nope, it's still shown at the bottom of the page where it says "Users browsing this forum: name, name, n guests". Before the update hidden users were counted as guests.

Re: Today's forum skin update
Okay, it looks like it just hides the banner by your name, but not at the bottom - so it's better than nothing (and solves my most blatant issues) but it's still not ideal and doesn't do what it says.eradicator wrote: ↑Sat Sep 15, 2018 8:17 amNope, it's still shown at the bottom of the page where it says "Users browsing this forum: name, name, n guests". Re: Today's forum skin update
It's fitting the screen width now, this is another nice step.

Nope, still fixed here.

Re: Today's forum skin update
My only two (current) usability issues with the updated forum look:
- Font Kerning with the Titillium font is inconsistent at times. (I tend to heavily prefer plain old Verdana)
- Contrast of white text on light grey backround is difficult to read. (I know I can install a userscript as a work around, but I would prefer not to.)
Re: Today's forum skin update
Ah, never mind, either I'm seeing things or they just increased the maximum width by a few pixels.

Re: Today's forum skin update
I'll be more precise : it was fixed 1152 px, it's now fiwed 1352 px. But it's fixed nonetheless.

Re: Today's forum skin update
Double post but for another bug : the picture attachment system with inline placement is broken. Add 2 pictures, and hit preview when wtiting a post. One of them disappears. The other can't be removed any more. And I'm not the only one expériencing this : I've seen at least another complaint in another topic.

I prefer the fixed width. Your typical 16:9 monitor is far too wide for lines of text. That shizzle is why we don't print essays out in landscape orientation.

Re: Today's forum skin update
If you want shorter lines you can simply resize the window to be less wide, but anyone who wants longer lines currently can't just make the window wider. I don't see any reason for the layout to dictate what the "correct" width is. It feels like forbidding long belts to force people to use trains.Deadlock989 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 7:24 pm I prefer the fixed width. Your typical 16:9 monitor is far too wide for lines of text. Re: Today's forum skin update
We don't print essays in landscape out of tradition/habit. It has nothing to do with the potential of long lines of text. Ideally, this would a user configurable setting, "Enable wide displays?", but obviously that's something the board software devs would need to do. It seems a little surprising the board software can't detect the screen width and adjust. Frankly, it seems like a basic failure for a modern application.Deadlock989 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 7:24 pm I prefer the fixed width. Your typical 16:9 monitor is far too wide for lines of text. Re: Today's forum skin update
Yes, I do want ultrawide text.
if I wanted my text to wrap narrower, I'd resize the window.
