Bots normally get a free auto repair when they dock. I don't remember when this change happened but it is handy. However when you harvest a damaged bot by hand it stays damaged. Seems a little inconsistent between the two things.
More of a nice suggestion: Since bots auto repair, there is no need for them to be repairable on the field. Make them non reparable in flight so they don't drag an endless wave of sacrifices.
Hand harvested bots stay damaged.

If you mine damaged thing, you'll get damaged item. Therefore it is consistent that mining damaged bot out of air gives you damaged bot item.bobucles wrote:Bots normally get a free auto repair when they dock. When damaged bots dock in a roboport, they are no longer damaged. The player mining is not consistent with the bot docking. You can actually force the damaged bots to deploy and they will repair after docking.
Re: Hand harvested bots stay damaged.
Hm, docking bots result in full-health items because they didn't use to stack. So 10 damaged bots would fill up roboport, unless there was a logic that makes bots wait until repaired. But what if player doesn't have anything automated to repair them with? Now that damaged items can stack, we might revisit this.

Re: Hand harvested bots stay damaged.
My vote would be for if a damaged robot enters a roboport, it stacks using the same logic that other placable entities stack with (averaging the health), and if the roboport has repair packs, it repairs the bots (consuming the repair packs). This might also lead to a small request for repair packs, to be fulfilled by logistics bots.
Re: Hand harvested bots stay damaged.
I do like the idea of them repairing inside the roboport and costing resources to do so. It's not like repair packs are expensive. Field repair causes many more issues because bots that are taking damage are in danger, and you don't want to drag other bots into the mess. I'm sure you've seen plenty of bots swarm into a fire pit or biter nest because they saw another bot get hurt. They need to stop doing that! It's just adding more sheep to the slaughter and causes more problems than it solves.
