Hi
It's now quite a time I'm playing in multi (linux headless server) and we are used to get quite large maps and we always let the server run while noone is in (no-auto-pause=true in the server options).
When I'm saying "large maps", I mean, not in map grid size, but in "saves file size" and "CPU ressource".
I'm here talking >100Mb (zip maps save) which result in a 5-15 minutes of "computation" between "map loading" and "ingame". (In french, it is called "rattrapage du retard").
We have seen that when someone (already ingame) pauses the game, this computation is way faster or close to immediate (which sounds normal).
I would love to be able, in the option, to auto-pause the game when someone is joining. Would it be possible in the next versions of factorio ?
Regards
Dergonic

+1 for an option to get the old "no-catchup" behavior back.

There's a pause button on the keyboard. Just let players use it. The existing server permissions can decide who gets to pause and possibly set limits on it.

I know it and we are used to do it that way.bobucles wrote:There's a pause button on the keyboard. Just let players use it. The existing server permissions can decide who gets to pause and possibly set limits on it.
But in another hand, our server has the no-pause option set. And when you are the only person, noone is ingame to pause the server
This is definitively not a "required" option. But having it would be really usefull/comfy for players

Can you send pause requests remotely as an admin? I guess a "game throttles for single player" option would be very nice and makes a lot of sense. In fact it probably should be mandatory.
