LAR DLC (Life After Rocket launch)

Post by Ikonos »

TL;DR
The game is nearing release and it is fine in the major part, but after release, a DLC could add some extra motivation to continue. And that could be building an FTL ship.
What ?
So, the rocket is a very normal, very slow rocket that can’t get us to our home across the stars. After launching it, we could have a "new primary objective" to build an FTL ship and finally be able to travel far away (or to send a fish much much further away).

For that I summarize the main key aspects of this proposed DLC:

1. The current rocket is a "Science Rocket" and gives space science used to develop further space things.

2. A "Cargo rocket" would have extra slots to send materials into space and would cost more to build.

3. "Moon base": a new map of a close natural satellite where FTL fuel can be mined and some new materials can be built. There are few "classical" resources, so resupply from the main base will be needed.

4. Extra resources will be needed in the main base, maybe underground deposits, discovered later in the game.

5. The moon has low-g, so the bitters are huge (there are rumors of bitterzilla being there).

6. The first thing to send to the moon base is a rover like thing that is remote controlled and acts as the player there but with no need to breathe. If it gets destroyed, a new one will be needed.

7. So, after mining a lot of FTL fuel and other stuff to make super-ultra-low density things, and sending a lot of expensive cargo rockets full of inexpensive metal plates, a FTL ship is built in the moon base or in orbit around it and we can go or something else.
Why ?
For the fun.

It's too early to be discussing about a potential future DLC : The game isn't even released (in its official 1.x version), and Wube guys are surely not the kind of people to start talking about DLCs before actually finishing the game. If/when they will be willing to ask us what we wish for the post-release, then it will be time.
