[Steam] Changing steam name resets achievements

So, I decided to change my steam name to match my typical IGN that I use. Most of my games were unaffected by the change, but Factorio's achievements all reset to 0, including ones I had already gotten. They reset not only in game, but in Steam, as well. All of my other games kept their achievement progress.

I have changed my steam name recently. But my achievements stay earned.
Maybe something else caused it ?

Options --> other --> delete achievements (including Steam Achievements)

Or you you did the achievements in a modded game, or a factorio install that doesn't integrate with steam, which results in the achievements only being saved locally, and not counting as steam achievements.

Oh, so an install which has mods won't save the achievements properly when a name change occurs? I did have several of Bob's mods in.

To note, the achievements did actually get awarded with the mods in and actively running.

I found it a bit odd, because the achievements were awarded, they stayed fine for quite some time, even after having to refresh my pc (uninstalling every program on it), but they disappeared when I changed my steam name, but nothing else was affected.

No. You would need to provide steps that reliably result in lost achievements so it can be reproduced.

In modded games Factorio only track tracks achievements locally. They are never pushed to steam. (This behaviour is unrelated to changing your steam account name). I believe this is because mods can make getting the achievements too easy.
