[0.16.48] Error on start: "Direct3D device lost during loading of sprites"

Place for things which are bugs but we have no idea how to solve them. Things related to hardware, libraries, strange setups, etc.

[0.16.48] Error on start: "Direct3D device lost during loading of sprites"

Post by ElderAxe »

For the last 10-15 days when i try to open the game, it stucks on "cropping bitmaps %39" and wait there for a long time. (sometime 10-15 minutes).
When i terminate the exe and try to open it again, sometimes it opens faster sometimes stuck at %39-%40 again

There are only two changes in my computer;
1- factorio version,
2- updated AMD drivers to 18.4.1

I validated game files via steam and no errors found.
I've attached my config and log files.

Thanks.

I've downgraded my display drivers to 17.11.1 and able to start the game without errors.
Here is my latest logfile.

I noticed that my previous drivers show my GPU as RX 580 instead of RX 570. Maybe that was the cause. idk.

That really sound weird. I don't really know what is the exact problem, but I would guess that the drivers are really related. Can you just use the downgraded drivers?

Sure. I'm using them right now.
