Modular Trains
An idea popped into my head that instead of cargo wagons or artillery wagons or even locomotives we could instead have a generic base that has additional slots on it, similar to how there are multiple types of robots. This may provide a necessary nerf on the train systems currently or be very advantageous; either way it adds a new element to the game that I believe is necessary. Seriously, who wants the game to be easier for themselves rather than more complicated? Anyways, I hope this gains traction either in the community (so it can be a mod) or even in the game developers; thanks for the consideration.

Re: Modular Trains
Trains need a nerf now?
There are multiple types of construction bots?
What is happening.

Re: Modular Trains
Hi,
This is a common and quite old suggestion. Most of the time, it's stretched to all vehocles, not only trains, so it's a more general case.
You'll find these suggestions easily with this link.
Also, there's a mod for that : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/VehicleGrid .

Re: Modular Trains
Thanks @Koub
@dood I feel vanilla train is too straight-forward and easy compared to the chemical processing and assembly blocks part of the game. I think all mid-late game parts of the game should be equally progressive rather than disproportionate. Also, mistype. Thanks for the counsel!
I'll update you in a moment.

Re: Modular Trains
How would "building a train" look like then?
Right now, modules are what you stuff into your power armor and that's not complex at all.

Re: Modular Trains
Given that a single straight rail is 2x2 and a train takes up 2x6, or, 3 rails, ...

Modular trains was not meant to be a GUI-based addition, but a spatially accurate recognition of real-life use of train systems, that would make more sense in a real setting than just Factorio's setting.
Edit: Thanks vvvv @Jap2.0
