[0.10.x] Hole In The Wall - Fight Through A Squall

HITW-FTAS, a map designed to kill you. Have fun.

Contents:
-Fairly large starting area. Larger than Very Large setting on vanilla.
-Easy access to Water and all four ores right from the get go.
-No access to oil within starting area. Sorry.
-Other ores within starting area are surrounded by worms.
-Starting area itself surrounded by 3 biter walls.
-Northeast of start is a large stone field.
-Southeast of start is a massive coal field.
-South-Southwest of start is a colossal iron field encompassing a lake.
-Northwest of start is a massive copper field nestled in a crescent lake.
-Near each bonus ore field are two large oil fields.
-All bonus fields are overrun with spawners, worms, trees, and rocks.

Update;
-Its a whole new ball game now. Sure you're safe right from the get go and have plenty of space to build, but one wrong move, and everything goes to pieces.
-Description, download link, and pictures all updated.

Alright ladies and gentlemen of Factorio, let's see what ya got!



*EDIT* Level file is quite large since I wanted the bonus fields very far away from spawn. And because of how many spawners, worms, trees, & rocks are around each field. And spawn. The game will seem to lag for a minute when you load it up, but returns to normal operation shortly thereafter.
--Fixed the settings pic since it was wrong on one detail.

**EDIT2** Apparently I missed two stone fields and one copper field within the starting area. Those three fields have been surrounded by worms as well.

Updated for 0.10.1

Changes:
-Redid the Biter walls, again. Removed redundant sections. (North-NorthWest & Southwest)
-Found a small Iron Field next to the West wall. Surrounded it with Worms.
-Moved the South wall farther up.
-Rearranged the starting area.

Hmm, I just wanted to try your map but I'm getting a 'bad allocation' error on loading it either in the game or the map editor.

I downloaded and tested the map in both the map editor and as a scenario. Loaded fine for me both ways.
I am using 0.10.1 right now.

The map is quite large by the way. Even on my rig, (designed to eat ultra-high resolution games), it eats a minimum of like 3GB of memory.
Hope you can get it working!

Have only small biters because if have medium and big biters it's really impossible?
Of course i will try it even if have medium and big ones :D

no problem i don't use more than 50 % of CPU and 5 Go ram but save take long time... and each two minutes it's really unplayable with the saves so i change to 15 min between each saves.
Sorry but i haven't find oil maybe next to bonus ore but i can go there because of enemies which kill me with just one attack and i can't upgrade armor because after it need blue research which need oil themselves....
so i don't know what to do...
Have you tried your map before? Or show me oil where i can go without beeing one shoot.

I made the map the way I did with the intent of having tiny mistakes slaughter you. The map SHOULD have oil outside of the 8 bonus fields, but I've not found any myself while playing it. Did find some while making the map, but I don't remember where they were.

By the way, from the way you worded your post, it sounds like you managed to make it out of the starting area. Which would mean you got through at least one of the biter death walls. If you've managed this, I'd assume you'd find a way to kill biters on the bonus fields.

No i haven't made it I was thinking to waiting for shield . If you don't know where are oil i will try without it but i don't really know if it's possible to do this with the second armor and rifle or shotgun maybe many many grenades will help :mrgreen:

this map is impossible you have surround player with big biters
I will try each side but seems to be the same...

I'm thinking of redoing the map altogether, one that hopefully spawns more small deposits of oil.

One question though. Have you been able to get into any of the guarded ore fields in the starting area?

No big worms kill me in 2/5 shoot with the armor....
So that's why i need to get out of the start to get oil and others resources i think that's interesting.

I'm thinking two things now.
--1st, switch out big biters on current map with medium biters.
--2nd, make new map, with some vanilla generated oil.
(Second part of second thought is pain in neck. Stupid vanilla resource spawning algorithm.)

Personnaly i will prefer the first one i'm okay with medium biters for bonus area but remove big worms on the first line of the wall.
I will try this but i thing we need small bitter to pass through the wall of biters because without oil i don't think that's should be realisable with medium worms .
Vanilla resource spawning algorithm will be good after the wall i think.
Let me know when you have finish to change the scenario

you need to put the map in C:\Program Files\Factorio\data\base\scenarios
