Behemoth Worms: AoE DoT Medium Range Artillery

Post by IronCartographer »

Super high evolution Behemoth Worm with an AoE corrosive Damage over Time projectile and very slow firing rate.

Out-ranged by player artillery.

Visible on map while in range of attack.

Slow firing rate, lower range, and DoT allows player artillery and repair bots to easily handle the arrival of the new ranged threat. The bots could repair damage, giving time for artillery trains to arrive.

Why do people think enemies that outrange your turrets/ are guaranteed to get a hit in would be anything but utter tedium to deal with?
Maybe once this is more like command & conquer and you can order units on the other side of your base you need 10 minutes to traverse by train to deal with it rather than going yourself, then you can dump things of this caliber onto players.

This would be fairly consistent with the current biter presence, I believe. WIth sufficiently low fire rate it would be the equivalent of higher-tier biters showing up and testing your turrets.

Actually, I think the most interesting use for worms like these would be a scenario that forces the player to go on the offensive, with a clear motivation and urgency for doing so.
