Me and some friends have had a server running on the 0.16.25 beta, though yesterday I downloaded the 0.16.35 beta to run a local game and see what all was new between that version and the one I was on. I don't really follow factorio news, so I had no clue that I'd wake up to find 0.16.36 be the stable release and no longer being able to fall back onto downloading 0.16.25. Since it's no longer listed in the Steam beta tag, would there be any other way out there to download the 0.16.25 client so I can join that server again? A quick search only turned up torrent downloads for presumably pirated copies of the game. I wouldn't be able to download a torrent either since I'm living on campus at the moment and my uni blocks those.
Thanks in advance to any replies

I do not have desired answer for you, but why not to update server?

Re: Running beta versions not listed in steam launcher
I'm thinking that'll be my best bet and I've already poked the guy running the server, I just don't expect him to be able to do anything about it the next couple days. I figured if there was a way I could revert back to 0.16.25 while I wait, it'd be nice for me to still pop in while I wait for him and also good for future reference as well.betrok wrote:I do not have desired answer for you, but why not to update server?
Re: Running beta versions not listed in steam launcher
The version you want to fall back to has been removed from the steam depot as well as from factorio.com, so unless a developer loads it back in you will not be able to fall back. Unless they specifically suppress any changes to the factorio installation all the other players on the server will be on 16.36 as well now, so even if you could fall back it would most likely not make much sense doing so.
Generally for a server to stay on a specific experimental version is not a good idea.

He'll see it whenever he gets back I suppose, but I'll pester him about keeping it updated too. Sounds easier than needing everyone to switch back to a specific beta version each time they want to join it. I had a brainfart when I first made this thread and forgot that while you can't join servers running an older version, you can usually load saves of older versions.Loewchen wrote:The version you want to fall back to has been removed from the steam depot as well as from factorio.com, so unless a developer loads it back in you will not be able to fall back. I think we should have my issue more or less solved now, I guess I can always pop back in if not.
