Map generation happens on the fly, that way the save file is only as big as it needs to be. To make it backwards compatible would mean including the map generation algorithms for the previous version or two, and saving a version against the save file that then determines which algorithm to use - a fair bit of work for something that will only affect the occasional game.hreintke wrote:I know it is still a 0.xx version but expected some backward compatibilty.
Generally due to all the problems with moving between major versions, many players just start a new map. That way you get to play with all the new features from scratch, as it's designed to be played.
