Allow adjustment of default internal buffers?

Post by cyjackx »

Not really a huge issue in most cases, but when feeding a fully beaconed copper or green assembly, I use multiple stack inserters to avoid gaps in thruput while the arm is swinging because they only activate when the internal buffers is less than 2x the recipe, but at those speeds that is too quick.

I normally use a mix of stack inserters and regular inserters to solve that.

This has already been suggested in the following thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50086 inserter waits too long

Especially this post by a Factorio developer is very interesting, as it describes the behavior intended to be in 0.16, which is more complex than you describe. It is not true that the buffer size is always 2x that of the recipe, but rather at least that value. According to what he said, it can also be up to 100x that value.
