[0.16.16] Rail planner direct placement has infinite range

Post by eradicator »

What?
When using the rail planner to directly build rails (non-ghosts) there is no range limit for building.

Reproduce:
  1. Place down a piece of rail.
  2. Left click the green arrow to start direct placement mode.
  3. Press M to enter map mode and zoom in to world-from-map-mode.
  4. ???
  5. You can build rails to anywhere (It's a bit difficult to see outside radar coverage :P.)
Expected behavior:
Placement should probably be limtied to 50-ish tiles around the player? I thought it was in previous versions...

In 0.15 you could just click to add another straight rail even if it was beyond the mouse pointer. Click often enough and you got infinite range.

Its been this way for a long time, and the fix would be, inconvenient in most cases

Lets say, the player is pushing the track near him into the planned position

"Pushing into position" -> This doesn't work only for straight rail as mrvn suggests though. It works for any curves etc. Has this really always been this way? I was totally sure it was limited before. If this is intended behavior then it's still inconsistent though in that it only works once from the point where you start. If you abort you can not start again from where you last stopped if it's out of reach_distance.
