A color research!

Mostly i want a way to have colored belt with same speed, so i can braid them with a better throughput.
But this idea goes further so you could make a research to enable the change of colors on trains, stations or the player itself etc. It could be fun to not have the color changing option from the start on(for multiplayer). I would rally like to see something like this in Factorio but im aware that it could be hard to do so, cause of color coding of the speed of belts.

I think colour choices is really just a novelty and couldn't really justify having a research for it.

Perhaps if the research was used for something with a purpose similar to a mod (https://mods.factorio.com/mods/Sirenfal/Train_Ore_Color) that changed train colours based on contents. something like this:



Perhaps then it could be seen as useful. As typically at least in my experience, colouring is often forgotten about and often with trains they are re-purposed and moved meaning you need to recolour them all the time.

As for the belts, I'd be willing to bet a mod exists that allows you to colour a variety of buildings and other objects. In terms of vanilla, I think the colour-coding (as you said) is a necessary part of distinction for belts, so custom colours wouldn't be a good idea in that public sense.

I think he wants to have more different Belts (colors) to get more possibilitys for braiding undergrounds. For example a purple Belt that has the same throuput like blue belt, but can be braided with blue.

For me personaly braiding is on the edge of cheating. Sometimes I do it, but I try to find other ways before I rely on it. The possibility of braiding is a sideeffect of the different colors and should not be the only purpose for an extra belt.
