Option to to lock robots to one robo-port area

Post by Zaydan »

TL;DR
Tickbox/UI to lock 'some' robots to a specific robo-port/logistics area and not travel aborad.
What ?
Logistics networks can become massive and messy, with robots travelling large distances and often performing an exodus from certain areas during large building/demolition projects. There are many benefits of having your entire factory, or even map connected to one network, however it causes the problem as stated above. Some players prefer to have multiple satellite networks, which can be useful but is not ideal in many cases.

The idea is a tickbox/UI on a robo-port that could give it some segregation from the rest of the network, without sacrificing its link to the entire base and storage area. The robo-port would not share it's given robots and/or repair packs outside of its own range. It could still be used as a charging station and a connection for other robots tracking across the base, however other robots would not park in that port. Alternatively, you could set x (say 50) robots to be locked to that robo-port and any excess could travel/park there.

This could be useful in the 0.16 buffer chest situation, by having a few designated robots in the main long-term storage/buffer chest area all the times.
It can keep a small number of construction robots at each port to be designated for repairs to defences etc. during large construction projects elsewhere.
Why ?
Large construction/demolition projects, especially during the late game can take up all available robots, leaving some areas void of robots, extending and delaying repair times or other logistics tasks.
Players often resort to splitting up their networks into smaller chunks to avoid these problems, however, it is not ideal as it means some areas can't be connected to the main storage area and is more of a workaround rather than a strategy.
