sensors

What is this idea?
I was looking through the posts and i noticed that almost nobody has posted somthing like this in depth.
My idea was that a player could place censors on traintracks that can spot the player or a vehicle so you dont get blown up or just hit by a metal block traveling REALLY fast.
and it would be one of the last things you research on trains and an extra piece of recearch has to be added, motion sensors. so you could program trains to stop if the motion sensors activate or forthings like lights or whatever.
I also think that if this is added a reverse sensor should be added, it constantly sends a signal and when it notices movement it will stop the signal or power flow.
meaning it will stop all power flow in a direction or will force system shutdowns (like with trains). It can also force the opposite, meaning it can force sytem restarts or power flow activation.

Why will this help improve factorio?
so you can stop getting mad at yourself and the train for getting hit by it, and so you can get creative with lighting and other aspects people might think of.

I would like to see people getting creative with this idea

While a separate sensor isn't a *bad* idea, it's worth noting that gates act as sensors. Combine with rail signals and you can make a safe crossing, but it's somewhat more work of course.

Currently wall gates are perfect for using for this task.
You can read the gate sensor (player) to effect train signals as you can lock the gates based on the rail signals (which will act as a train sensor).
