From the attached save file, I waled west, removed the bridge substation from above the copper furnaces, walked south to place a medium electric pole to connect the now separated grids, such that the medium pole connected to the nearby small and medium pole, as well as the nearby substation. The game then crashed, instead of placing the medium pole.
I will now attempt to reproduce the bug, wanted to get it down while I had it firmly in mind.
