[0.16.5] Too Many Fish

Multiplayer game, after 10335121 ticks, out of ~208k active entities in the game, 77147 are fish.
We encountered similar issues in 0.15 and had to periodically eradicate the fish via console.
Would it be possible to either limit spawning or not have them active all the time?

Thanks for the report. You seem to be misunderstanding how the active entities counter works (which is understandable).

That number includes all entities that *can* be active - not all that are. Fish, biters, turrets, and spawners are what's called "conditionally active" meaning they only get updated when there's an enemy nearby. In the case of fish they're only active when you the player is nearby.

77k fish is no problem - of those 77k maybe 50 might be active depending on how many players are near water that also has fish.
