I know there's a mod portal rework somewhere in the near future, so I thought I'd bring this up.
I think the mod portal could use some integration with git and/or github. Wube uses Heroku, so they must know how cool the concept of "push to deploy" is. Furthermore, something like automatically grabbing tags/releases from github would be quite neat, since there's apparently a whole lot of people who don't realize that git and github are separate things.
At the very least, a HTTP interface where a developer could push a zip file without using the web interface (say, from a makefile) would be very convenient.
In general, I think we, as a community, should encourage the usage of organized mod development with tools such as git(hub).
