Problem
I want to be able to have different sized trains to reach my station and get refuelled. Thing is, sometimes it's 2 engines 2 wagons, 2 engines 1 wagon, 4 engines 2 wagons, etc.
It all depends on where they're coming from.
Present
Currently the only way to automatically refuel them is by sending them to different terminals - built to match a particular format. This is quite horrible and goes up against the factorio signals we all have come to love.
Solutions
1. Engine Count, Wagon Count.
We already have the icons and everything. Station could provide the total count of engines and wagons and transmit them.
2. Train Format (example TWWT for Engine, Wagon, Wagon, Engine)
This would be great as the inserters could catch the signal as a string. Could add condition Train Format = (string value) TWWT then enable.
What do you think?

Re: Train Station Signal for docked train
I believe it would be best if the following suggestion were implemented into the game:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=46969 Constant Combinator for Locomotive
That way, you could manually set certain variables/signals for a train, so that it can be handled differently according to its function, size, layout, or whatever you want.
