Drilling Equipment for water and oil

Wouldn't be cool if you could dig a deep well in the desert so that you can have water to power the electricity grid in the middle of nowhere?

I think would be cool to have some mid game research that enable the construction of some serious drilling equipment, also because oil is too easy to obtain!
Would be farm more interesting if you have to work for oil, by first drilling a hole into the oil deposit before you can place a pump to extract it.

So maybe there could still be few and rare surface oil patches so that you have the bare minimum resource to get started and develop your seirous drilling equipment end get going with a serious oil drilling operation

I know there's already a mod that allows waterwells anywhere but I think the oil gen is mostly fine it's as rare or common as other ores depending on your settings
