You can easily run and drag a selection rectangle that covers the map... why complicate things?
It would be nice if it were limited to radar coverage maybe but...

One reason to forbid that is due to not seeing what actually you blueprint/deconstruct. Another reason - it's not possible in map view (not zoomed in), so this sorta adds consistency. The fix was that dragging blueprint/deconstructor in zoomed-in-map view would ignore chunks that are in fog-of-war at time of releasing mouse button.

P.S: I am waiting with awe for report like "I've marked my entire base for deconstruction by mistake, but then radars went off and I can't cancel it anymore." :D

Is it possible to turn off fog of war?

No.

We need radars everywhere in this case.
Radar reduce fps. On huge maps we still have problems with it. It's more important that everything else.

Ah, took me a while to find this. So, this "fix" (or the followup "fix") caused blueprints not being placed into invisible parts of the map, just (if you press shift) the part of the blueprint that's visible. Sweet. NOT.

This fix kinda sucks for taking blueprints of large railroad junctions or clearing out trees in fog of war.
It basically forces me to place radars all over the place reducing performance.

You can also make the blueprint in person which doesn't have any limits.
