To a small degree, this is already in the game: higher level assembly machines create much less pollution per item they produce, compared to their predecessor.

To make a machine eco friendly, just add green modules in it.

You'll need to install Bob's Modules to use green modules. Until then, use efficiency modules.

I believe OP is asking whether or not the stock game will have a machine that actively removes pollution from chunks (like trees, spawners and chunks free of floor tiles do currently). I'm not a developer, but I guess the answer is no.

It would be already sufficient to be able to plant trees in vanilla.

As for plantable trees, I know of a whopping grand total of two mods which implement it, astonishingly enough. Tree Saplings and Mojo Resource Processing, which went away in 0.12. There was a "Survivial Mod" (misspelled on factoriomods.com, actually Survival Mode) which had potato plants that sucked so much emission out of the air that a few of them could make a basic mining patch going full tilt totally undetectable. It also has the catastrophic problem of implementing respirator equipment that didn't let you upgrade your armor until it had an equipment grid.
