Please let me know if this is a known issue, I have tried to find this reported but have not found a thread on it.
This issue I suspect this is caused by the VehicleGrids Mod. After play testing a few times I worked out that when my tank (this was what I was using at the time) was destroyed the next time the game attempts to auto save the game crashes. I had some armor upgrades in the tank grid slots, if you want me to list them all I can do so. After toggling the mod off I intentionally destroyed the tank and the auto save worked just fine. The other mods I had running are, Blueprint String, Rail tankers, Fluid Barrel, and the Base Mod. The save file before and after the crash are both included. After this happened I tested a car with and without upgrades in the grid slots and found that the game did not crash either time. I when't back to the tank after destroying three cars with upgrades in a row and the crash did not happen again. I am unsure how to replicate it outside of the save files I have given. I do get the same crash every time I open that specific save and have the biters destroy the tank.
My system is Windows on an Alienware tower, more specs info will be given upon request.

Hi, thanks for the report. There was an issue with saving game when character was in a vehicle with equipment grit. It is fixed in 0.14.23 and in 0.15
