[0.15.1] Does not launch on linux steam version

I have tried the steam version on SteamOS and Ubuntu 16.04. On both steam says that it "preparing to play", the "preparing to play" vanishes and then nothing happens. The game does not launch.

When I try to run the steam binary from the terminal I get this.

I have downloaded the standalone binary and it works fine.

Hi, when you try to execute the game outside of Steam (ie. from terminal) Steam API tries to relaunch the game under itself ... this seems to fail for reason unknown to me.
