Hey just generating a new map and confused about the second sentence in the rich resources preset, "As resource richness increases as you go further from the center of the map, this just means players will not have to extend so far."

Re: Typo or bad sentence structure in map generator
IMO removing the "As" (first word) in the sentence would solve the problem, or do you have another suggestion for the wording?
Re: Typo or bad sentence structure in map generator
This is a very strange sentence formulation. People can say like this in Russian but not in English. Moreover, this sentence is hardly understandable by experienced players, let alone the new ones. Anyway, I would aim for clarity in the first place. Here is version with minor corrections, which looks more understandable but still incorrect:
"As resource richness always increases when you go further from the starting area, this option means that players do not need to extend too far to get resources."
"As resource richness always increases when you go further from the starting area, this option means that players do not need to extend too far to get resources."
Re: Typo or bad sentence structure in map generator
Right, that makes no sense.
"Resource patches have a larger richness. Because resource richness increases further from the center of the map, you won't have to expand as far."
Better?
"Resource patches have a larger richness. Because resource richness increases further from the center of the map, you won't have to expand as far."
Better?
Re: Typo or bad sentence structure in map generator
Shorter sentences are better. However, any explanation emphasizing that "richness increases" is misleading because it's not an actual rail world specific. As far as I know, the only difference from default is that "resource patches have a larger richness". It's not easy to explain benefits of this scenario to new players using a single sentence.HanziQ wrote:Right, that makes no sense.

Agreed, simply removing the As at the start of the second sentence will change it to make sense.daniel34 wrote:IMO removing the "As" (first word) in the sentence would solve the problem, or do you have another suggestion for the wording?
Re: [Klonan] Typo or bad sentence structure in map generator
For clarity I suggest describing what 'richness' means exactly:
If you absolutely want to keep the 'improves as you move away from center' portion and be more verbose:Resource patches will have more resources per square, meaning you will have to expand less.
you can use 'ore' instead of 'resource' also if you want to disregard oil for easier understanding.Resource patches will have more resources per square. This effect increases the further the resource is from the starting location. This means you will have to expand less.

Fixed for the next release.
