Damaged ingredients cause machines to get stuck.

Post by NoQ »

Suppose you reuse old underground belts to produce faster belts, like me on the screenshot. Suppose your construction bots have deconstructed a single old belt piece when it was damaged, and that piece gets to the assembler. Then it can no longer stack with undamaged belts. If one damaged belt is not enough to execute the recipe, the machine gets stuck and requires manual fixing, even though the whole process was as automatic as it possibly could be. Similarly, i suppose the inserter would get stuck if it holds a damaged item which doesn't stack with the undamaged item that's already in the machine.

I agree that it's kind of realistic and funny to imagine the assembler being clogged in this case.

Still, i suggest fixing this by making construction robots repair entities before they deconstruct them, and also making logistic robots automagically repair the items when they are taken away from your logistic trash slot. Or, alternatively, make damaged items stack.
