now, I haven't the best graphic card, but previously I can play factorio smoothly under any condition.
(gt650m with core i7 3615qm)
now when zooming out it stutters.
I just reduced the graphic settings and the multisampling, and now everything is smooth again
why I opened this then?
what the low graphics seems to change is the sprite resolution while animating plus some other visual definition things - now this effect is very noticeable at normal zoom but low graphics is almost indistinguishable from high graphic when zoomed out, except far smoother.
so the issue is: is the engine correctly applying level of detail to sprites?

If you feel crazy, you can try this: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=2485
Replace the icons.
If that works, I mean there is a problem with further grow of the image data.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

@LoSboccacc
Can you please check this thread: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=7&t=2454
In it another user was reporting poo performance and use program called Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx) to help tracking the slowdown.
As you would see in one of my posts the cause for his slowdowns was the fact that his Windows kept most of the graphics data in part of RAM that was shared to graphics card and not in dedicated Graphical memory. Since acces RAM is much slower than acces to dedicated Graphical memory this caused considerable slowdowns.
Restarting his system fixed the problem but we didn't managed to find out why that happened in the first place.
So I'm asking you if you could go and try to figure out if same thing might be the cause for your slowdowns. The more information we get the easier we will be able to track this problem down.

hi
after a restart graphics are smooth again, but some random stuttering appeared.
I checked with process explorer and here is the snapshot:

when it lags, I have the same drops. I have no idea of what computation engines are, but I see that ram usage is almost at top at 890M of the onboard 1G

If these slowdows that now remain ocur aproximately every two minutes then this is due to autosave feature of the game (by default games autosaves every 2 minutes).
So try adjusting the autosave interval in game options to see if it afects the slowdowns (I have set it to 15 minutes myself becouse I didn't like slowdowns every 2 minutes and I have quite fast laptop - canr run FarCry 3 at medium settings with no Anti-Aliassing).

Isn't it every 10 seconds? (The game now generates one more chunk around the player every 10 seconds up to the distance of 20 chunks).

Seems like a duplicate of https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... 4&start=10 So I put it to resolved for the next release and if it still happens after 0.10 speak up.
