So I purchased factorio on steam and i was wondering if there would be anyway to copy the game to a thumb drive to play at work/school?

Make an accont at factorio.com if you don't have one yet and connect it with your Steam account, you can then download a .zip version from there. Just extract it to a folder on your thumb drive and you're good to go. Saves, mods and settings will also be stored in that folder, it's completely independent from any other installation.

I will say from my own experience with this. If you intend to make this a regular thing, a TRUE USB 3.0 thumb drive will improve later game performance TONS.
