I used to run 2 Tracks close to an ore field, fork one side off and place a mine + train station there. The problem was to get the train back to base since it has to cross one track.
But what if the tracks just go around the ore field with the train station in the middle? This way the train does not has to cross any other rail track at all. Rails are cheap and ore fields not that big. And it doesnt matter when the 2 tracks split off so there is more than enough room for multiple stations if needed.
Well, i just wanted to share this experience because i feel pretty stupid not thinking of it sooner™... Or did i overlooked something?
Took me a while to realize (ore mines and train stations)

Ha ha I was just thinking the same thing
Re: Took me a while to realize (ore mines and train stations)
I prefer to split of the rails at stations, because trains in the station wont block other trains passing by. And with every split there is a merge. But forks arent as bad as you think.
