I got into problem with my Merging Chests mod because factorio calculates distance to circuit connection distance to center of entity insead of connection points.
If connection point are far away from entity center the connected wire is really long to connect. And if you try to connect to connection point that is close it doesn't work because center of entity isn't close.
IDEA: Circuit connection distance should be calculated between connection points instead of entity centers.

Seems reasonable, i hope its not so hard to implement.

Also with combinators, where one tile is the input and the other tile is the output, the distance between the actual input/output should matter.

Nah, this would break designs when rotated/mirrored.

Moved to not implement, cause of that reason.
