[0.15.4] Graphics flickering - vsync related?

Post by Chimera »

Hi,

In 0.15.4 on Mac I get "flickering" when walking - I don't entirely know how to describe it so I made a video - it shows like a "bar" scrolling up across the screen slowly. You need to play video HD resolutions to see. Video of problem: https://youtu.be/S0TbZWfFGIg

This is a regression from 0.15.3 as the problem goes away when I downgrade to 0.15.3 and comes back in 0.15.4. I reproduced a couple of times.

If I check "Wait for VSync" in Graphics options and restart the game, the problem goes away.

I think the problem may be that "Wait for VSync" was enabled by default in 0.15.3, but is disabled by default in 0.15.4 - but I'm not sure. When I downgrade to 0.15.3 the option seem to be checked, and unchecked when I upgrade again - but I don't know for sure.

- It happens in a newly started map.
- It happens when I select low / low graphics and video RAM (I played yesterday on high/high).
- I played some hours yesterday without issues on 0.15.4 (I must have been since my autosaves says they are from that version). I don't know what vsync wait was set to then - most likely the default.
- Game via Steam.

Hi, thanks for the report.
The horizontal line is called "screen tearing" and enabling v-sync prevents it.
I am sorry for messing with the v-sync option in the last few patches.
