[0.15.3] Old Blueprint Strings Import into 0.15

Post by Durabys »

So I was thinking about importing my old stuff from Blueprint String Mod back from 0.14.23 and this happened in-game when I put a string from the mod into the game's own blueprint string console:

Failed to import string: Unknown version ('H')..

Help please? Because KatherineOfSky is SOMEHOW using her old Blueprint strings from years of game-play in her current 0.15 Let's Play on YouTube. Am I doing something wrong?

Importing mod string isn't supported unfortunately,

It is possible to import using the mod, and export again with the ingame string export, or many other ways

How can I install the when I cannot download because it is for a different version of the game? Catch-22 anyone?

Download 0.14 version of Factorio, load/create a savegame turn all your strings into actual blueprints and load the save in 0.15
Depending on the number of strings it may be tedious.

The reason the blueprint mods are not updated (yet?) is that 0.15 removed a lua function that all Blueprint mods used (at least blueprintstring and Foreman). That function was used in the library that de-/compressed the strings.
I might look for another library so that migrating away from Foreman/Blueprintstring isn't such a hassle, but it could be a couple of days

What we need is not an update of the Blue string mod..what we need is just a little program, that can be completely Online based (like a page with an app), where you put the old blueprint string from the mod, click 'translate' and comes out a 0.15 version of the string. Done.

A much easier way is to open your old save, move all your blueprints to the Blueprint tool in .15.x and store it in "My Blueprints". Save your game and load you new/current .15.x save and TaDa the Blueprints are in "My Blueprints" for all you games going forward.

I used this method to start a new .15.x factory using some of my old blueprints.

Hope this helps.
