Tested out a mass multiplayer (200+) session with new version of Factorio...
And surprisingly it was almost fine although i don't have a fast computer at all. It is like 6+ years old.
Something to notice:
2. It still punches you out of a server selection menu if you were unable to connect, which is annoying because you need to go back and find server once again.
3. Biter attacks still cause dispropotional lags in MP... like... 200+ people are fine... huge base is fine to some extent... biter attack - oh noooo... and it is always like that, not necessarily with large playercount, especially if the base is old.
4. There should be an option to hide other players on the minimap because they cover (and lag) minimap if there're too many of them.
5. There's no alert that you're falling behind the server - things just stop respond and you can't move.(bug? Don't know)
Aside from this only a general question:
If we're doing client-server interaction already and not P2P, why there's a need for a client computer to simulate the entire map?
It's quite frustrating especially if you can use only one core.
Fast internet connection is not a real problem nowadays, and it is possible to run much larger MP maps for client if he does not need to simulate it all.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Keep up the great job!
