Stuck on island

Hey,
when I generated my world I was quite please to find that I was on an island with no mobs, but it is becoming boring and I wouldn't like to restart.
I read on reddit that I can just edit in a landbridge with the map editor, however I can't seem to find my area on the (endless?) map.
Is there some way to pinpoint my island on the map? Maybe some way to display coordinates or somesuch?
