so ive been playing a map for a few hundred hours and recently noticed that task manager shows my ram usage for factorio is over 9gb (insert over 9000 joke here). i have a decent amount of mods installed.
all of angels, bobs mods, all of the aai bits, warehouse, uranium power and a like another half dozen or so quality of life things.
is it normal for ram usage to be that high? i know mods will add to the amount of ram needed but if i start a new game the total is like 1/3 of that.
game using a lot of ram in a mega base?

The amount of RAM used is not from the mods, in my experience they take a constant amount and stay that way throughout the game. I think what's increasing the memory used is that you have explored big parts of the map and in Factorio they don't unload when you're away from them, map chunks are always kept in memory.
Someone had the same issue on the Steam forums, Factorio used so much RAM that Windows asked him to close it or suffer loss of data. After installing the unDecorator mod the usage went from 12.8 GB to 8.9 GB.
Here's the thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/427520/di ... 091416507/
I think that is solved in 0.15 where decorations don't need a lot of memory, but for now install that mod or don't explore the map any further, or maybe increase the amount of RAM on your machine.

ok. i figured it wasnt the mods eating the ram. i forgot unDecorator existed so ill check that out later when im home. it sounds like this isnt a totally unexpected thing to happen late game. i was concerned i might have broke something.
