What gives, can't get mods so can't use mods. It wont accept my steam login and I got no idea what it wants.Changing passwords didn't help.

You need to log in with your account on factorio.com that is connected to your Steam account.
I'm an admin over at https://wiki.factorio.com. Feel free to contact me if there's anything wrong (or right) with it.

Thanks. I did that...

It says I have 'insufficient membership' and that I have to buy the game. Having already paid for said game... I think the issue is that I got the game 'gifted' via my friends steam account. I pay him he gifts the game to me via steam...

I am stuck with a game that is paid for that won't let me use mods in it. And this is kinda crappy as my steam account should be sufficient identification of who I am and that I have a purchased game 'gifted' to me...

Now the passwords are synced, but the issue remains.

Why am I on steam, here, and the other website... trying to reconcile this?

Very un-user friendly.

The game should allow you to download mods after you successfully connected your Steam and Factorio accounts. If it doesn't then please write to support@factorio.com with your account details (username, e-mail address, steam name/id), they will sort it out.

Insufficient membership means that your account isn't verified as paid account, make sure that you actually connected your Steam and Factorio accounts, send an e-mail to the address mentioned above if it still doesn't work. Since you were 'gifted' your Factorio copy it might also be possible that your license was revoked since then (for buying it on some stores that sell illegitimate copies, e.g. g2a), again your best bet is to e-mail the developers and ask them.

EDIT: well, what Klonan said above ;)

You guys are brilliant, thank you. The synced addresses actually worked it just took a wee while for the websites to update each other that they were in accordance.

It's a bit of a strange case, but isolated? I don't want my own purchasing power online as after a few wines I make not so smart purchasing decisions  Might be commoner than I think. ;)
