Hi
I can't play factorio because the map generation is damaged. Near the starting area are large amounts of enemies. I tried ~100 map generation, single player and editor. The enemies are always paired with desert.
Map settings are on default.
I attached 3 screenshots. Circle marks patches of enemies, square or text marks starting area (where the screen was at begin of map generation)
Cheers,

That's normal. Set the starting area to large if you want them further away.

So its normal that I always have desert near my starting area? And I think these patches of enemies are huge. I last played 0.13.xx and I needed to drive 10 Minutes in one direction to get desert tiles and I never had so much enemies in one place. The enemy bases where 3-5 buildings and not large blobs of 30-100 buildings. Did the Map generation changed in some way from 13->14? is there a "go away desert" option? 40-60% of the map is always desert.Rseding91 wrote:That's normal. How am I supposed to play the game if the rest of the map is packed with blobs of 30-100 enemy buildings?
I set enemy bases to very low and this is what the whole map looks like. I can't even drive somewhere outside the starting are without dying:

I'm sorry that you're having trouble but random map generation is that: random.
I just generated 5 maps in a row and didn't start in a desert in any of them. Linking 2 images and saying "all maps I generate I start in desert" doesn't show anything.
How you play with biters is: the same way everyone else does. You build machines to build weapons and kill them.

I tried over 100 generations in editor and singleplayer. I tried 25 generations in 0.13.14 and they all look like this small bases and no desert:Rseding91 wrote:I'm sorry that you're having trouble but random map generation is that: random.

Are you per chance entering the seed yourself?

No, settings are on default. Maybe it has something to do with Linux? A friend who has Windows has no problems with 14.22 and map generation.orzelek wrote:Are you per chance entering the seed yourself?

The density option scales the noise function: the higher density of patches, the smaller they are.
I like to have more water surface. My maps have only a very small content of desert.
