People inside my network can't connect but ppl outside can

Hi!

So we have kind of a strange problem. When I create a public server on factorio, everyone outside my home network is able to join, but friends connected to the same router as me are not able to connect and get the following error message when trying: 'Couldn't establish connection with server'
Anyone got any idea how to resolve this? Have done the port forwarding stuff.

We have also tried removing the port forwarding,without any change in result. He can find the game in the public game browser, but not able to connect. When we try 'Connect to server' and enter my local ip-address the result is the same: 'Could not establish connection to server'. Have tried the 'Connect to server' with both <my_local_ip_address> and <my_local_ip_address>:34197. The game that I host is checked to be hosted as both public and LAN.

Factorio version is 0.14.22

Maybe because your on the same IP? - dont know, i have done it many times, so its kinda weird.
If you go on google and search for "myip", is that the same ip, as you get when you go to "cmd > ipconfig" ?

is it a WiFi network? i remember a wireless router that wouldn't allow peer connections via WiFi.
also, are you using a static LAN IP address for the server?

Sounds like a NAT Loopback issue to me. Check your router settings for a NAT Loopback setting.

Hm. Factorio identifies with the external IP. So theyll hace to connect to that external IP. And that can confuse the NATing regarding the ports.

Completely disable your Windows firewall on the host machine, public and private.

Are the people inside your home trying to connect using the same IP as the people outside of your home? Make sure everyone inside your home is using your private network IP, usually a sequence of 192.168.X.X.

As quantum said, disabling your firewall could do the trick, i do that myself when i'm playing with friends LAN.

Also remember to port forward the correct way
