No matter what I do I can't seem to be able to set Admin...

So this is really annoying and seems quite broken. So I guess when I created a map / seed / etc. I was in Single player as kanechart. I ran the sever on my headless server (the save and nothing else). We played the server for a couple of days and then I wanted to do some commands for testing and found out I could not.

I since then changed my name to Kane_Hart so I assume that might be why and no big deal so I will edit the configs..

So I added the server-settings.json and add "admins": ["Kane_Hart"]
And rebooted and /admins was still kanechart...

I loaded the save into Single player typed /admins and it was still owned to kanechart... lol

What the heck is this chaos? How do I fix it and why does it exist? I tried even opening save looking through the files but I could not see a way to replace my admin info there.

The server-settings.json only applies admin when the player is created - not when he joins.

You can either load it with the old username and promote your new username or load it on a dedicated server and promote yourself through the console.

Thanks, Is there a reason why it can't promote it from the file or append or override? It seems a bit oddish style it is now.

Because you probably already joined the game and saved it with your new username. The file only applies to people the first time they join the server.
