How to Wire?

I didn't look very far for an answer, but how are red and green wires used?

I think you might like the wiki: https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... it_network
Basically, the wires can be connected to "smart" items, which is everything in the list of the URL above. Then you can click on a connected smart inserter, and create a filter and network conditions.

For example, you can say it should only take iron gear wheels off the belt, and only to do so when there are not yet 50 on the green network. The green network should connect the smart inserter to every chest you want to use the conditions from. This should go via the power poles. The green and red wire are just to be able to have 2 separate networks on one power pole.

Hopefully this explains it :)
