No stone on my map?

I made a map that should have had plenty of small patches of stone, but after several hours of play and much exploring, I had found only one tiny patch of stone outside the starting area, and it was sitting right underneath a biter base. I finally loaded up a new game under the same settings, only I removed biters in order to allow me to explore faster, and after traveling quite some distance (in a different direction from my main game) I found this many patches of everything:

Copper 12
Iron 16
Coal 17
Stone 6
Oil 1

Everything seems to be working fine except for the stone--though the oil frequency is considerably lower than I had expected. Here's my settings:

I have not looked at the string but since stone is alreade quite small compared to other veins, if you make it even smaller i think that most of the veins are simply so small that they vanish. Try doing the same string but with higher stone settings and compare maps is my idea.

Stone is tricky to get right when generating a map. It needs a decent size to show up, and often the spread is ridiculous low. Usually I generate it with the same settings as other ores, or even higher when my other ores are at a low setting. Same thing goes for oil. Make sure you generate enough of it, or you'll get stuck.

I found while playing with settings that stone seems to generate less often and in smaller patches than other ores, which is the opposite of what I expected. Even with maximum frequency, it's still not all that common.

All basic ores have coverage set to 0.2, stone has it set to 0.015. Other settings for generation are the same so it's less common by design.
