Load Multiplayer Save Crash

Post by REDBLOOD »

Whenever I try to load this save, the world opens and everything seems to work, but 10 seconds later it says unexpected error occurred!

I have no mods.

Something is blocking the LAN broadcast, do you use lan-emulating software, e.g. Hamachi?

Re: Load Multiplayer Save Crash

I previously changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8. I changed it back today, the crashes are less frequent. In fact after two failed attempts of loading my save, normally it works the third time.

But I still get crashes. I wonder if there is another problem

Here is my most recent log where it failed (after changing the DNS back.):

Re: Load Multiplayer Save Crash

Post by daniel34 »

It should be completely unrelated to DNS.

We had a similar issue today where a Thunderbolt connection was the culprit:
viewtopic.php?f=183&t=39250&p=234398#p234398

Can you check if you have any active/inactive network interfaces with IP 192.168.0.x? If it isn't your main network interface then try deactivating it. Also post a screenshot of your network interfaces if that doesn't help.

Do you have hamachi installed?
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Just in the off chance I am the only one who noticed, all Failed sending LAN game broadcast issues seem limited to mac OS (but different versions). The fact that it worked again in several cases after removing Hamachi might be a curve ball and the actual cause lies in how mac handles packages differently than other OS in general, like here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=28543

I have no mods, I have never owned hamachi in my life. Hamachi has never been downloaded on to this computer. I agree that mac doesnt run well with steam. For example: My ROTMG account wont allow me to pay for realm gold on it as my "Steam overlay isnt on", even though it is. Furthermore, my steam frequently does this thing where the buttons stop working (I cant click on 'store' or 'library'...'). Im not impressed with the fluidity of use on a mac. I used to use a PC, and steam never had any issues (I was able to buy realm gold on ROTMG, I was never unable to click on the different buttons on steam...).

I am able to play factorio still, i just have to force quit and re-open my factorio a few times. I can live with us. Any responses would be helpful but if it is a mac-related problem, I can live with having to close and re-open my factorio.

P.S one thing I realised (my other games do this as well) is that if i try to open steam or any steam games right after i turn on my mac, the connection will fail. I have to close and re-open ROTMG sometimes because it freezes on the loading screen. Maybe its my computer taking a while to establish a connection. However, I can use youtube and I can play other non-steam bought games right after turning my computer on, its just steam games that wont work unless I wait a few minutes.

I think cube fixed this for 0.15: 39250

Until that is released, disable LAN visibility when creating multiplayer game and it should work fine.

Omg thank you Posila!! That worked! I will make sure to wait until 0.15 before enabling LAN again!
