New Soundtrack - MOON
As soon as I played this game for the first time, I had to add this soundtrack. Enjoy!
This is an incredible soundtrack for Factorio. Ominous, light and incredibly atmospheric, Mansell manages to use his haunting pianos to build upon the isolation and claustrophobia of being all alone on a cold and hostile alien planet.

Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
every kind of music is atmospheric, dont be stupid to use fancy wordplay here
isolation? i have my robots and i dont have to care about anyone, its fucking paradise. even if the false illusion of being lonely comes up, i can visit a lousy and weak enemy base and enjoy them hugging me while im on invincible mode, when im satisfied with the hugs. i can just walk away or slay them!
who said the planet was cold? did u see ANY snow what so ever? rofl
also there is no claustrophobia, the map is god damn infinite!
moron

I literally lifted that from a review of the soundtrack itself and changed it to fit factorio. But I'm glad you took the time to respond! Hope you enjoy the music!

Please properly credit the musician and include links to the music in its original context!
I would also expect to see a list of all the track titles

Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
I tried playing these songs in two different external players to hear them. (MPC-HC and J.River Media Center) Both will play .ogg files. But neither would play the files from this mod.
Also both "appeared" to think there was a video component to the files. At least they "resized" as if starting a video, as opposed to remaining in their original configuration for a audio file. then froze and would not advance.
I have Not tried playing them in game as I wanted to hear what they sounded like before installing.
Can anyone else confirm they are in a proper audio format? Both my audio players will play all the other .ogg files in Factorio.

Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
Technically they are encoded with video+audio. The video portion is encoded with the Theora codec and only shows a static very low-res album cover.
My MPC-HC plays them without problems using the LAV video decoder. VLC can also play it (using the integrated decoder I assume).
I'm surprised though that Factorio can also play them in it's state (I didn't try actually but since this is a mod...) or you probably need to have the necessary decoders installed for that to work. I have LAV installed system-wide as default for example, so even Windows Media Player can play these .ogg files.

Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
Ok that probably explains it. I must not have the proper video codec installed. (and was correct that they were not just sound files)
Will have to look for the LAV video decoder or the codec.
Thanks.

Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
That's odd, I encoded them from Mp3 to Ogg using VLC. I don't remember seeing any options about video for that part - if you know of a better way, let me know!daniel34 wrote:Technically they are encoded with video+audio. You probably only looked at the file ending and got the wrong profile. There is an Audio OGG and a Video OGG profile:expectantbunny wrote:That's odd, I encoded them from Mp3 to Ogg using VLC. I don't remember seeing any options about video for that part - if you know of a better way, let me know!
Re: New Soundtrack - MOON
Any plans to port this up to 0.15?
