Endgame goal, continuos ressource usage

Post by Bags7 »

Hi together, i don't play Factorio for a long time now (a few weeks) and i'm also not that long active in this forum, so please just say if i'm overlook something.

I really like this kind of games: building complex structures, handle steady ressource flow, look for proper defense, ... But one thing bothers me: what comes next if you researched everything, killed every enemy in the area and don't need to produce anything anymore? You don't have to setup new defense lines, don't have to access new resource fields.. all storages will be full and your production stops.

In my eye's this is somewhat a very sad end of the game :-(

Now to my idea, the whole story of the game is to prepare the planet for the arriving colonists. I would wish if there is a mod which allows to build colony buildings like houses, markets, streets and so one which needs a steady ressource flow (e.g. a house needs always electricity, coal/oil (for heating), food (treefarm mod?) or a market should supply several hightech tools or cars to the colonists). This new buildings could be combined with a new endgame goals like: prepare houses for 500 people to unlock markets, prepare houses for 1000 and 10 markets for the next unlock and so one.. ofcourse all buildings have to be supplied with needed goods to count.

Unfortunatly i don't have the time at the moment to write a mod by myself, but i could for sure support in term of concept/testing.

What do you think?
