- Trains in automatic mode should also drive backwards - if forced to - of course much slower if there is no locomotive at the other end. This might once be used for a train depot, i.e. trains could park in simple terminal stations.
Currently, you have to place train stops for both/the proper directions at a single-track-line BTW, even if you are running a bidirectional train.

No. Has already been discussed. That would lead to uncontrollable train-routing, where you cannot know in which direction a train drives to a train-stop (with the front direction or with the back direction first).
